Thank You,
After years of building community together, Doña Ana Communities United has officially concluded its work as an organization.
While DACU is closing, the work itself is not ending.
The Mesilla Valley Timebank and the Really Really Free Market have transitioned to Doña Ana Village Association, where they will continue serving our community. The relationships, generosity, and spirit of mutual aid that made these programs possible will continue under their new home.
Thank You
DACU was never just an organization. It was a community of neighbors who believed that everyone has something valuable to contribute.
Together we:
- Built and grew the Mesilla Valley Timebank into a thriving network of neighbors helping neighbors.
- Helped hundreds of community members exchange thousands of hours of skills, care, and support.
- Brought free classes, community events, participatory art projects, and opportunities for connection to Doña Ana County.
- Completed the first Participatory Budgeting project in Doña Ana County at Lynn Community Middle School, the first middle school in New Mexico to do so.
- Organized Fix-It Fairs and collaborated with countless local organizations to strengthen our community.
- Demonstrated that communities are strongest when everyone has something to give and something to receive.
None of this was accomplished by one person or one organization. Every project was shaped by volunteers, members, partners, donors, and neighbors who chose to build something together.
To everyone who shared their time, trusted our vision, attended an event, made a donation, volunteered, or simply believed in what we were trying to create:
Thank you.
It has been an honor to serve this community.
With gratitude,
The Doña Ana Communities United Team
Mission
Doña Ana Communities United (DACU) creates welcoming spaces for all people, especially those whose voices and stories go unheard. We build genuine relationships, carry out uplifting projects, and engage with local government and empower community members to advocate for positive change in their neighborhoods and beyond.
Vision
We aspire to a vibrant Doña Ana County where all human beings are valued and everyone works together as equals to realize our full potential for individual and collective wellbeing.
